An Enthusiastic Review September 3, 2010 Jim Danaher I selected theWORX WG783, battery-powered, cordless, lawn mower on 8/5/10,based on its advertised light weight, maneuverability and quiet, clean operation. I have mowed my lawn three times so far, and am extremely pleased with it in all respects! My lawn(approx. 1,600 sq.ft.)is elevated approximatel 4-5 ft. above my adjacent 'trench'driveway, but even as a Senior citizen, by first removing the battery,I am readily able to lift the mower up to the lawn from the driveway. It maneuvers readily, and one mowing uses about half of the battery charge!
Don't Buy - No Customer Service Support August 27, 2010 D. T. Flucht (Metro Detroit) I purchased this mower on July 5. I used it twice, on a tiny yard. The mower worked fine; however, after the second use, the battery would no longer charge. I emailed Worx and received an automated response referencing a high volume of contacts, saying they would be back in a few days. After a week with no contact, I called. Technical Service told me the problem was probably the charger, and they would ship one right away. 10 days later, I called back again. This time I was told the charger is backordered, and none will be available to ship until October 27, two months from now. I said that was unacceptable, and asked what else they could do to fix the problem. The answer was nothing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I also called Amazon, and was told there was nothing they could do, as it was a 3rd party seller. So I am stuck with an expensive electric mower that won't charge, so it can't be used. It makes a lovely paperweight. Don't buy this--at least until they decide to support their warranty.
Love this mower August 26, 2010 Mia C. (Abq,NM USA) I am a 65 year old woman who wanted something more manageable. My husband laughed when I ordered this mower. He called it my "Barbie" mower. Guess who grabs this mower to use now. It works great, gets in tight spots, is lightweight and blessedly quiet. It holds a charge longer than we need it to and recharges quickly. I love this mower.
WORX battery mower August 25, 2010 William R. Smoak This thing works just as sdvertised. Just charge the battery as instructed and don't mow wet grass. Great for trim-up in small areas that a riding mower will not reach. It would work fine as the only mower for a small yard (condo/townhouse, etc.).
Very pleased-- we have a small yard and it is perfect. August 18, 2010 Brightside (North Dallas, TX) We just moved into a house with a very small yard in front and back compared to what we had previously (the "new" house) I had mowed the bigger yard (the "old house) with a corded electric mower and a gas one and when we bought the new house with the smaller yard, I bought this cordless mower. I used it at both houses for a while, my husband would mow part of the old house's yard with one mower and I used this on the front. In the new house, it easily mows the front and back on one charge with some left over. In the old house, it did the front and side before it needed a charge. However, it is PERFECT for the new yard. I like the fact that there's an indicator on the battery and that the battery is removable. Being wary of expensive consumables, I checked the price of a new or replacement battery and the cost is acceptable. So, it was not a throwaway mower when the battery went-- that was another plus. Where we live we have quite a few narrow places to fit thru so its size was (the narrowness) was a plus, because I can fit it between some columns we have outside while getting it out of the garage. I could toss it into the car easily and took out the battery first to make lifting even easier. I like that the battery can be taken out and charged. My gas mower had a battery start attached to the mower, so that meant I had to find a place for the whole mower near a plug... not the case with this which is nice. Its very quiet-- so I can mow early or late without disturbing the neighbors. Last week, talked to my mom on the phone while mowing and we could hear each other well. I can still hear the kids while mowing. Amazing. I don't usually like to mow when the grass is wet with dew (or rain), but I did once or twice because I had to and it did a fine job. One feature that this is missing is that the wheels are not 'one touch' adjustable. You have to adjust the front and back separately -- kind of jerk them out of the slot and into the desired one. If you slam into something, the wheels can move out of the slot so you may have to readjust (I noticed this after I mowed one strip shorter than the others).... I am currently looking for a replacement blade.. my son REPEATEDLY kept hitting a piece of REBAR sticking out of the new yard near a poured concrete slab ("I thought it was a stick Mom")... (I could hear the steel hitting steel) and after he whacked it the third time I reached him and the blade had been bent up a bit. However, that's a testimony to the toughness of it, not a complaint.
